Black and Gold birthday card

I adore the combination of black and gold. There is something very striking and dramatic about the combination. I love how it can be used to male or female cards.

I went for the black and gold colour combo for this card, although this was only because a trip to Hobbycraft today resulted in some gorgeous kanban card ending up in my craft room (how did that happen???).

I used an image from Debbie Moore's Paris Glamour cd.

I made the tassle by adding a jewellery bead (eventually) to some black ribbon and them pulling at it to unravel it.

Toshiro Hitsygaya

Who?!?

Another commissioned card (for the friend who's daughter specifically requested the cards she wanted me to make for her birthday).

I had no idea who this character was until I was shown an image of him and had never heard of him. Spent ages looking for the perfect image and got it cleared by her dad before I used it.

Anyway, for anyone wondering, he is a character from an anime cartoon called Bleach and is her favourite character.

The backing is blue mirror board embossed using the polka dot embossing folder.

I used lots of glitter on the image to make it pop a bit.

I cut the flourishes using my Epic Six and cut them in blue glitter card and stuck on little gems.

Made the bows and used feathers from an old fascinator.

White Wolf

Had two card orders from a colleague for his daughter. Well, actually his daughter ordered them through him!
The first (to be from her brother) had to feature a wolf or wolves. I found a beautiful black and white image and decided to go for a black and white theme.

The image is mounted on white glitter card and plain black card. For the background I used a white gloss card and embossed it and used black and white satin ribbons down the centre.

I finally got round the using the large black gems I got for my birthday and stuck one in eacg left hand corner.

I cut up a string of pearls into different lengths and used black and white ribbon to create bows

I made a box rather than an envelope and decorated it with two strips of light sliver card, cut with martha stewart punch (forgot to take a picture though!).

Blue Eyed Boy

Think this little boy is very cute! I made this card with someone in mind but didn't give him this card in the end (gave him a better one of course!)

Time for Tea

I think this little girl is so cute and cross between the characters Alice and Heidi!

She is from Kraftin Kimmie and coloured with promarkers.

Backing papers are a hotchpotch collection of all sorts!

Hot Pink Birthday card

I recently brought some hot pink mirror board and was itching to use it. I had used a little on a card when I first brought it but had quite a bit left over.

I have made this card for Step-daughter to give to OH granddaughter for her birthday. She is hitting that tween age so didn't want to go from something too girly but also didn't want to go to for a teenage type of card. I think this one is a good mixture of the two.

The image is coloured with promakers and I used the Xcut nesting dies to cut the image out and then a larger one to cut the backing.

I embossed the mirror board on the side and I love the effect that embossing haves on mirror board.

I really hope she likes it!

Mucky Pup

Not craft related in the slightest but had to share this! Popped round to see my brother and sister in law and my little nephew (20 months) was busily eating his dinner. However, he decided he didn't need to use his knife and fork, or even his hands. Instead. he went head first into his dinner!

Steampunk Birthday card

Seems like Steampunk is going to be the next thing in card making and I wanted to get in on the action! I love the whole genre, I find there is something very slightly disturbing about it. I think that comes from the films and games (mystery case files, sherlock holmes etc) in the steampunk genre with a sinister edge!

Anyway, couldn't wait to try out a steampunk card so when Kenny K brought out their Steampunk Burlesque images I had to give it a go!
The image is Scarlett West from Kenny K and she is coloured with promarkers.

The papers are from Hobbycraft (and where is all there steampunk stuff??? Spent a good hour trawling the place yesterday!).

I brought the clock face and cogs from the jewellery section in Hobbycraft and used a Tim Holtz mask to create the compass.

I used some of the left over paper to create the corners and used my layered arches martha stewart punch on them.

Mister Old Fart

Made this card with someone in mind but it is sitting in my card box at the moment.

The image is from Bugaboo. He is coloured with promarkers and have used a plaid backing paper. I used my scalloped dots Martha Stewart punch on the red card and added some sticky green ribbon to match the backing. I printed the sentiment as wanted a different front from that used on the sentiment that came with the image.

Vintage Car

Another image made for the card box at work. I have had the image for ages, think it is an MSC one.

I wanted to make a card that would suit a "gentleman" and think this one fits the bill.

I coloured the image with promarkers and used a backing paper from a pad from Hobbycraft. I printed the sentiment and coloured it beige.

Fairy Tilda

We have a crazy amount of birthday's this month (Uncle, Nephew, one friend, OH's son, Grandson and two Granddaughters!) so have been going card making mad!

I have made this one with one of the Granddaughters in mind.

Used a tilda stamp and coloured with promarkers. Have also added some white glitter to her dress and wings to make her shimmer.

I have nested her on some some embossed scalloped circle (Xcut nesting dies) and coloured a white ribbon. The backing paper came from Hobbycraft and the butterflies were bargains from poundland!

I used the Scalloped Dots Martha Stewart punch on the purple card at the back.

Can't find my balls!

I made this card with someone particular in mind but it will sit in my stash box for a couple of weeks as I think I can make a few improvements on it (mounting the image on sky blue for a start!).

Image is from Bugaboo and is from their Gus Character range. I cut round the image and also cut off his hair because I wanted him bald.

He is coloured with Promarkers. The back papers were from a pad purchased from Hobby Craft and some from Craft Superstore (absolute bargains as were 79p for 36 8x8 sheets).

I typed out the sentiment rather than use the one that came with the image as I wanted in rectangle rather than square.

I made the envelope (peeking out below in brown with white dots).

Lots of new stash!

Have been very busy playing with all new stash lately! Have actually brought a LOT of new stuff over the last 6 weeks but this is my reward for quitting smoking so what I would have spent on cigarettes, I am spending on crafting stuff! And some of it was brought out of my birthday money too so not quite as bad as it seems!

I recently purchased:
Clever Cuts Guilotine from Crafters Companion
Card making board from Crafter Companion
Letraset Ultra Fine Nibs for the promarker pens
Some gorgeous pink backing papers
Some very funky tartan backing papers
A pad of generic backing papers with stripes, stars, dots etc
Quicktuz Epic Six die cutting and embossing machine
Flourish dies
Some X Cut nestability dies
Lots of embossing folders (well, four!)
Loads of digi stamps
Envelope Maker Pro board from Crafters Companion
Some new stamps (alphabets, some hearts, a few FF sets)
Lots of new ribbons
Some new gems
Doily lace border punch from Martha Stewart
Scallop Dot punch from Martha Stewart
Layered Arches punch from Martha Stewart
Corner rounder punch
1/8 inch circle punch from Hobbycraft (which has broke! second time as I took the first one back after it broke within 2 days so giving up on that one)

Phew! LOADS of new stash, and of course that doesn't include things like DST, glue etc. I think that it is was a VERY good idea turning our spare room into my craft room. As it is the room is getting pretty full already!

I also got a 6ft bookcase for my craft room but that was a freebie from work so doesn't count lol.

So next time I whinge that I NEED more stuff, I think I better take another look around my craft room!

Happy Birthday Big Boy!

I love Kenny K stamps, especially for masculine cards. They have a lot of images of rather scantily clad women which are prefect!

I made this card as part of selection for a friend and have used one of Kenny K's cowgirl digis.

Used lots of earthy tones in the card, with the light brown dotty paper, deep green card and striped backing paper.

Sentiment inside read Happy Birthday Big Boy in a western font.

CDAC Progressive Challenge Card - Week 1 cdacpc1

This is the card I have made for the CDAC Progressive Challenge Card.
Image is from WhoopsiDaisy (http://linnie-whoopsiedaisy.blogspot.com/) and I think she is so cute! I coloured her with Promarkers (using my new ultra fine nibs!).

I added some gems to the corners and embossed some cerise mirror board.

Added a little sentiment to the bottom left corner.
